Material Handler

General purpose: to provide medius customers in the most reliable, responsive, and highest quality service in our industry

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: Essential functions of the job are listed below. Please note that other duties may also be assigned.

With little or no Supervision/Direction:
·

  • Carries out all responsibilities in an honest, ethical and professional manner.
    ·
  • Using stock tag for stocking location, place material in proper storage container.
    ·
    Must be able to follow all MEDIUS Safety Rules
    ·
    Able to identify and properly handle brokered items, customer dedicated material and buy-outs
    ·
    Has knowledge of material and material location.
    ·
    Able to read work order to assure correct material is properly loaded on our truck in the correct sequence
    ·
    Able to locate and safely pull material indicated on work-order using the appropriate material handling equipment. (I.e. Forklift, side-loaders, etc…)
    ·
    Able to assist in most departments when needed.
    ·
    Verify size with the use of calipers, tape measure and color coding system.
    ·
    Able to change stocking location of material in IMS System when material has been moved.
    ·
    Verify that pulled material meets Medius quality standards
    ·
    Able to efficiently handle Sheet Material
    ·
    Document material pulled using the Medius process
    ·
    Able to be operate all cutting equipment.
    ·
    Knows proper tagging process
    ·
    Able to assist in Stocking
    ·
    Able to effectively train employees in all aspects of the warehouse
    ·
    Knows the significance of a “Heat” and “ Lot ” Number and proper way to handle and identify with stocking tag.
    ·
    Able to coordinate all cutting production and maximize the use of saws.
    ·
    Knows to keep all material of the same grade kept together.
    ·
    Able to process returns and receive all in-bound material (UPS, Fed-Ex, Freightliner, etc…)
    ·
    Knowledge of proper packaging procedures for different types of material handled.
    ·
    Able to inspect incoming material to meet Medius standards.
    ·
    Able to read work-order to assure correct material is pulled and is handled per special instructions.
    ·
    General housekeeping
    ·
    Able to interact and communicate with customers and fellow employees in a friendly and professional manner

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: In general, the following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to allow differently-abled individuals to perform the essential functions of the job.Must be able to see, hear,speak in order to communicate and take direction from supervisor and/or other customers; manual dexterity required for reaching and lifting of small objects,and operating material handling equipment. Able to lift at least 50 lbs. without help.

The warehouse is clean,orderly, properly lighted and ventilated. Noise levels are considered moderate to high.
